I first encountered the term “friendly user” in high school. Wow! Grey areas already existed back then, I guess I just didn’t want to face it or acknowledge it. For me, high school was a good time in my life.
But the sad reality is that users do exist. Every interaction with them comes with a question of their genuineness, if there is an ulterior motive behind the smiles and the exchange of pleasantries. It’s sad that some people, even us, allow users to propagate by falling prey to their “advances”. Users take advantage of the affection of the “victims”, with the latter hoping to gain some fondness in return, maybe even love. More often than not, they are disappointed. One victim said that “Users are like your most favorite tv shows. They always keep you hanging until the next episode.” He said that there are always follow-up favors after the “Thanks”. That’s the difference between them and the regular people who ask for help. There are even users who don’t express gratitude and expect the poor unfortunate souls to do their bidding at the crook of the finger.
Can we stop them? I didn’t think so. In a workplace scenario, if the immediate bosses are users and treat us like slaves, could we defy their orders and attain demerits? Maybe not, unless we’re fed up and resign for that reason alone.
Users are losers who try to revel in power and control, who think that other people exist just to satisfy their wants. Only God’s karma could vindicate the victims of such
injustice.
